Quarry Fire Update (7/31)

31 Jul by Andrew Gysin

Unfortunately we have a fire close to home and hope that everyone is safe. Many have had to be evacuated and Dakota Ridge HS is being used as a evacuation site for families to stay in as they work to contain the fire. We have people setting up in the parking lots, there are cots in the gym, the auditorium is for press briefings and the news feed. Food is being donated from restaurants. At this point in time, the admin, secretarial staff, and counselors are available to help. We were told by the Red Cross that they work in shifts, and there may be a need for more volunteers as the days goes on.

If you would like to volunteer at any time, please email Mrs. Keller. She is putting a list together to help keep things organized. I do not know how long they will be here, and we are ready to help. The Red Cross has said they will let Mrs. Keller know what they might need in donations as has R-1.

As of writing this update we will have practice as usual tomorrow (8/1) and Friday (8/2). The parts of the building that we use are still open to us and we will not be in the way of those using our building.

The coaching staff will monitor the air quality tomorrow morning and decide if we’re practicing indoors or outdoors. We will for sure lift and have our team breakfast on Thursday, August 1st! Please meet in the Atrium area near where we have team breakfast.
